OUR NETWORK
It is vital to choose a web host with a solid network infrastructure.
You don't have to be a systems engineer to understand the
importance of common-sense basics:
Security
Redundant
connections with live re-routing
Back-up
Power
Fire
Suppression
Systems
based on Current Technology
Door County Networking's servers are not land-locked at the end of a
long road to nowhere. We have hand-picked the finest data
centers in America (at a higher cost for top-notch quality)
to host our equipment and your website!
Our shared servers are located at SAVVIS's data center in Dallas, TX. With solid internal architecture and diverse external connectivity, SAVVIS's data center meets all of our criteria and then some!
Security
The physical NOC is a free-standing building closely monitored
with CCTV and badge scanners. Employee access
is strictly limited with keycards. Servers are secured
at multiple levels and at no time does the public have
access to them.
Redundant
connections with BGP4
Door County is very familiar with this concept... when construction
work slices a fiber optic line in Brown County, our 911
and long distance service goes down. Why? Verizon refuses
to invest in a redundant fiber line to our area, citing
cost concerns.
There are no such concerns here. The data center sports multiple redudant Gig-E loops to SAVVIS's premier network, which itself is direct-peered to over 400 providers nationwide.
The size and speed of our connections are about hundreds of times the size of
web hosts/ISP's based exclusively in Door County.
The Texas facility uses Juniper M20 routers with a certified six-pack of Cisco 6500-series switches, and Cisco 2950 customer-access switches. Connectivity is optimized using the BGP4 Protocol, ensuring maximum "uptime" for your site!
